Excellent rom!! I've flashed several in the last few days since I got this new phone - yours ROCKs! Did it this afternoon - so far so good. Still trying to figure out what all the goodies are for. I have 19.60 mem available after a fresh soft-boot. I downloaded your .txt also, so once I determine what I want to strip out - it should be easy...hopefully get a little memory back.

Question though. I came from the MR1 update and had perfect/fast GPS using skywings fix. I see you have some gpstools included, but I couldn't get a lock. I'm sure there are some steps I need to do to get to a working GPS / aGPS. Do you have a link handy or do I need to go surfin'?

Thanks again - and check your paypal....sent you a little sompin'-sompin'

I followed these directions with no luck:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix

Everything appeared to go OK, no errors or anything. Anything in your rom that needs to be done different, or something because I came from MR1?

I'm currently using radio 3.42.40 w/ PRI 2.03_002.

My GPS works great. I don;t know if the MR1 made a difference on yours or what may have happened.
Thanks for the donation. Let me know if you have it working. For some reaoson I didn't have myself subscribed to my own post so I did not see you had posted. I didn't even get on here yesterday. Sorry about the delayed response.

No luck. I've re-done it 3-4 times. I can't find any trouble-shooting threads, just how-to threads. I posted on XDA also, they suggest going back to MR1, then go to a DCD rom. I'd like to stay with yours. But I could do that as a test I guess.

I opened HTC GPS and opened the com4 port - and see some kind of data stream scrolling in the window, but never any satellite locks. I can't find any instructions on using the HTC GPS, so I don't know what that data stream means?

I usually use Googlemaps for testing - which just searches until times out. I've tried all the standard stuff: take battery out, change mode 2=>4, back again, try different IP address, etc..

Is there a better tool to see if it is actually seeing the gps chip and searching for satellites.

Thanks.

Got it! went back to factory stock rom. upgraded radio to 3.37.75, then DCD 3.2.6, instead of calling Verizon, I activated old phone, waited 10 minutes, re-activated new phone. Loaded GoogleMaps, 8 Sat's lock in 10 seconds! Thats without the aGPS fix. So it must have been the mr1 that I did the last time. IF it works now - should be ok moving to your rom?

This might be a silly question, but what is the advantage of building a rom with everything you want -vs- just installing the programs that you want to my phone? I mean besides being easier to reinstall everything, is there a memory / speed advantage?

thanks

Yes you should be ok to move to another ROM. I don't see what could have caused yours not to work unless it was the MR1. The reason you want to build your own is that if you have to do a hard reset you won't have so many programs to re-install vs. using the Sock ROM. If you build your own then it will be just like you want it after a Hard Reset. The only programs that won't remain after a hard reset sre the ones you add by cab file.

When I first got my 6800, yours was the rom that got me going with Cricket and everything working. Text, internet, all of it. All of it but GPS. I tried DcD's 3.3.4 Rom liked the simplicity of it, and it's speed, but couldn't get into my EPST using ##778#, ##778, loading EPST.link (modified or otherwise), or running the EPST.exe... Which means I couldn't get into my NAM settings to get my WAP working. GRRR. I digress though...

The only reason I tried DCD's rom was because I found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363431

Which states one must have a Rom version of "at least 3.16.651.0 with a radio ROM version of at least 3.27.00" to get GPS working. And it was true! I got GPS using Amaze with no problems. But couldn't use my WAP.

Long and short of it, could you either update your Rom using appropriate version for GPS (officially making yours the only one-shot retard-proof everything-works rom I've been able to find in over 5 days of researching)...or I'd be glad to do the work myself if you'll point me at a decent how to manual. I'm not a n00b at this, but it's been a while since I cooked up anything. Back when I had my HTC Wizard way back in the day.

Either way, thank you ever so much for getting my 6800 up and running on Cricket. You rock man!
